Here\'s a 125-year-old Lancaster \"Special\" half-plate camera with a polished mahogany body, red leather bellows, a Clement & Gilmer lens and an early and an early, original Lancaster plate holder.Camera is original throughout, and its condition is excellent. The finish is still smooth to the touch. The brass fittings are original and undamaged. The bellows are chipped in a few of the corners, as you can see, but their condition overall is quite good (though of course they are no longer light tight and will need to re-sealed if you wish to use the camera for photography). The back is reversible, and the all of the original hardware is intact and in good condition. Both original Lancaster tags are still intact, as is the Lancaster shield. Shield is also intact on the plate holder. Ground glass is in excellent condition, and the Clement & Gilmer lens throw a crisp image against it with sufficient lighting. Lens elements are clear and undamaged. Iris aperture adjustment on the lens is working properly and is not stiff. Moreover, none of the iris leaves are stuck or detached.The camera has an extension bed, with an extendible back. Overall, a beautiful antique camera in pretty much all respects.
