I\'m kicking off the holiday season with an amazing assortment of mechanical, technological and musical antiques, so make sure to check out my other listings after you look at this one. You won\'t be disappointed.Here\'s a beautiful folding view camera manufactured by the American Optical Co. in the late 1800\'s. The camera comes with a pristine brass barrel lens, a leather lens cover, a set of Waterhouse stops, a dark cloth, two Lancaster plate holders, and a hard wood case. Condition is outstanding and the build quality is excellent. Pristine original finish on the polished mahogany body, lacquered brass fittings that exhibit only minimal tarnish, light tight red bellows with no misfolds, undamaged ground glass back, rack and pinion focusing that is still working properly. Lens elements are clear and undamaged, and when the camera is properly focused, the lens throws a crisp image against the ground glass. The camera folds up easily and looks great from any angle.An exceptionally nice camera in all respects. Case is in good shape, with a replacement leather handle that\'s actually sturdy enough to use and not simply function as a decorative addition. Dark cloth is in excellent condition, with no rips, no damage of any type. Waterhouse stops fit snugly in the lens barrel and their leather case is in good shape. The leather lens cover is likewise in good shape. The 1/2 plate Lancaster plate holders sit slightly lower in the camera\'s back than American Optical plate holders, but they\'re secure when mounted, and the slides come out easily.
