1916 Loose Coupler Crystal & Audion Radio From Legendary H. Greenwood Collection:
$449.44

Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you\'ve looked at this one. I\'m listing another eclectic selection of antiques and collectibles, andI suspect that there will be something of interest to just about everybody.
Here\'s an early, well-documented breadboard radio from the collection of the late Harold Greenwood, the world\'s best known and foremost collector of wireless era instruments. The radio is pictured on page 37 of the Clymer edition of Wireless and Radio and on page 65 of the McMahon edition of Vintage Radio. Both books date the radio to 1919, but Mr. Greenwood himself dated the receiver to 1916, as you can see on the green paper tag that he affixed to the underside of the board.Condition is excellent throughout, and the radio looks little different today than it did when Greenwood first photographed it for publication half a century ago. The radio appears to be factory built (note that the loose coupler\'s standards are mounted directly onto the main board; the coupler does not have a sub-mount). Likewise, all parts including the board itself appear to be of factory manufacture, but only the Wm. Murdock variable condenser is signed. The loose coupler has three tap switches on the front of the secondary coil, and just to the right of the crystal detector there are binding post inputs for a stand-alone Audion tube detector.Radio is original throughout, with some finish wear on the top of the loose coupler standards. The binding post on the top of the rear standard does not screw snugly into the board. Those are pretty much the only issues, and neither issue is significant. Detector crystal appear to be original, as does the cat-whisker.The receiver is about 28\" long by 7\" deep by 7\" high. Shipping weight, properly packed, will be about 20 lb.That\'s about it. I will pack everything carefully and properly, and Ican assure you that it willshow upat your doorstepin the samefine condition in whichits leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my feedback, you\'ll see that I know how to do it correctly.
