Classic Celestron 8 fork-mounted 8-inch f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope:
This is the Classic C8 fork-mounted 8-inch f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (or SCT) that was introduced to the commercial market in the early 1970's by Celestron founder, Tom Johnson. It combines a thin, aspheric Schmidt corrector plate to compensate for the aberrations of a fast, spherical primary mirror in a Cassegrain-style instrument, with the secondary mirror mounted on the back side of the plate itself. This is a beautiful telescope that has been well taken care of. The outside tube is in nice condition, and is not damaged to my knowledge. You may see a small area on the tube that has a piece of tape. This is a piece that my relative, who gave me the telescope, taped on there. I do not know what it is for, therefore I left it there. The telescope has a label with special coatings. I am assuming this is the magnesium flouride anti-reflections coatings. The lightweight tripod needs some work, however lens, filters, etc. are included. This purchase comes with 4 Celestron Eyepieces, 2 of them are orthoscopic AND the Vernonscope Dakin 2.4 X Barlow. A copy of the operating manual is also included. I am moving in June and am unable to take this with me. All items sold as is. This item was previously posted, however it is being relisted due to an unpaid sale.
