Fused silica blank by Dynasil Corp; 4.68\" diameter
For your consideration is this optical glass blank made of fused silica by Dynasil Corp of America. This is a high purity synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide manufactured by flame hydrolysis. It has a very low thermal expansion coefficient of 0.55 x 10-6 per C, which is better than borosilicate, and certainly superior to plate glass.
This blank is NOT molded, but custom-cut to dimensions of 4.68\" diameter, by 0.565\" thick. All surfaces have machined surfaces of medium-ground finish. Faces are nominally flat, and the perimeter is square-cut. Chamfers are minimal. A few small edge-flakes are on the perimeter; see final pic. No bubbles are evident. Weight is 12.3 ounces.
