“My jaw dropped when I downloaded the first 90 secondimage of Markarian’s Chain in Virgo.RASA captured much more than that, filling the field of view with dozens(or hundreds?) of galaxies. The galaxygroup is over 50 million light years away.But some of the background galaxies are pushing high 16 into 17thapparent magnitude, like PGC 040505. Itried to run the distance on that using online cosmology calculators with thegiven redshift.. and I think that came to 84 to 87 million light years. I think some background galaxies are muchfarther than that, however, I just need to find them in the image. SEE ATTACHED JPG
This is the result of 58 x 90 second shots (I recounted,it was not 45 sub exposures for this image) with RASA 11” on the CGEM DX, usinga QHY11 color camera.”

The optical quality and spotsize across the entire image circle is unprecedented for an astrograph in thisprice range—or even that of a much more expensive instrument. The design alsoprovides minimal vignetting.

Advanced features like a custom engineered linear brassfocuser bearing and FeatherTouch Micro Focus Knob allow you to make the fineadjustments you need to capture the perfect shot. Meanwhile, a12V MagLev fanreduces cooldown time and provides optimal airflow through the dust filteredoptical tube.
