Tektites are natural formations of glass that have fallen to Earth from outside the Earth's atmosphere. There are several varieties known to science; the one included is an “Indochinite”. It is believed that the Indochinite tektites were formed when a comet / asteroid struck the Earth near Thailand, exploding tons of molten rock high into the Earths atmosphere and in to Earth orbit. This material eventually fell back to Earth in a huge shower of “Shooting Stars” which stretched from Australia to Madagascar and as far north as China.
