ThisMeade 8” LX90 EMC (multi-coatings) Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopehas Meade'sGOTO computerized control system and a number of optional accessories. Thisitem is for all that you need to get up and running.This would make a great holiday gift to anyone who wants to get into astronomy and learn the sky.The Meade GOTO system, once aligned, will accurately point to basically anything in the sky that you could possible want to see, and some things that you cannot actually see with this scope. (Unless you have really dark skies and a vivid imagination). This scope works great on planets, the nearby galaxies, and nebulas. I am not sure of the manufacture date of the scope, but it is probably between 2000 and 2003. I got the equipment from my son’s estate, and I am selling it because I am not an amateur astronomer nor are either of his daughters, my granddaughters, ages 13 and 14.
The system also has a Scopetronix mounting plate. This is a super-compact 11-1/2" X 20" mounting plate designed to simplify attachment of Meade LX200GPS, Meade LX200 Classic and LX90 telescopes being used with Meade's standard field tripod or giant field tripod. It fits the 7" MCT as well as the 8", 10", 12" and 14" SCTs. This product makes it so much easier to attach the scope to the tripod safely, with less chance of dropping. The plate has leveling bubbles, seven 1.25” holes and four 2” holes for conveniently locating standard eyepieces for the scope. A $79.00 value.

All Series 4000 eyepieces include a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The eyeguards fold down for eyeglass wearers, and in fact the folded eyeguard shields eyeglasses from coming into contact with the metal eyepiece housings. Rubber grips are provided on all but the three shortest focal length Super Plössl eyepieces.
