An Attractive Georgian Faux Tortoiseshell Folding Pocket Reducing Lens or Loupe, in its original Velvet and Silk Lined Fitted Box.
As stated this is a reducing Loupe, as in it makes things smaller as opposed to magnifying them.
An early 19thC period item, and not a reproduction or copy.
The Handle is in good condition with only minor wear and signs of use but with no breaks, cracks or major damage.
The Frame has some damage as shown clearly but is still structurally sound.
The Glass Lens is all good with only minor surface wear and with nothing that impairs its clarity, it has no cracks, chips or other similar damage and it sits securely in its Frame.
The Hinge moves firmly but freely, it is intact with no slack or signs of excess wear, the Lens and Frame are held tightly in place when closed into the Handle..
All the Fixing Pins are sound and strong.
Its Box shows some signs of age and use but is intact and very serviceable with a good Hinge and Catch.
An interesting good quality Antique collectible.
