An Early American embossed Ink Bottle, Warren, Massachusetts, ca.1880. Igloo or Turtle form with sheared lip and smooth, slightly concave base; aquamarine glass. Embossed on adjacent panels below the upper dome: J & I E M. John and Issac Elijah Moore had an ink company located roughly between Worcester and Springfield. They were the first to patent this design in 1865; this style of \"Monitor Inks\" was commonly found in New England schoolhouses during this time period.
Condition: Some residual ink residue on the interior, as shown; otherwise Excellent. This Ink survives in remarkable, as-made condition with typical imperfections created at the time of manufacture. Surface whittle and air inclusions noted throughout. No chips, cracks, repairs or other excuses.
