This is a lovely old scientific instrument. The box looks like it would originally have been a drawer in a desk, and is customer designed to fit the disassembled microscope. Some of the wooden holders/brackets have come away from the side of th box where they were glued on, they can be repaired. It fits together and I can see light through it but the lenses need a good clean.
I don\'t know if it is complete, and the hinges have come apart, and there is no key for the lock.
