A good quality Watson brass Microscope Edinburghmodel, marked on the base \"W. WATSON & SON LTD, 313 HIGH HOLBORN,LONDON, 23963\", c.1917.
The microscope stands about 11 1/4\" high in its closedposition. Coarse focus is by rack and pinion, and fine focus knob is onthe top of the column. A draw tube marked 15-22, and a triple-nose piece marked \"WW\".Mechanical stage has X-Y control knobs, and a pair of slide clips. Sub-stagecondenser with variable diaphragm and swing-out filter holder, and theplano-concave mirror is in excellent condition. The swing-out sub-stage is centeradjustable and its vertical movement also controlled by rack and pinion.
There are Three WATSON objectives - WATSON\'S 2/3 IN, and WATSON 1/12 IN OIL IMM are contained in matching brass canisters, and WATSON 1IN is in a Watson plastic container.
There are two eyepieces - one is marked \"1\" and the other is marked \"12.5 MM X 20\".
The scope has been well kept and is showing little use. It is in excellent condition for a 100 year old instrument. All knobs move smoothly, andthe scope delivers beautiful images.
The mahogany case was made with wooden handle and velvet linedtrims. There is a vertical crack in the back. It has a working lock and key.
Case measures approx. 13 1/2\" x 9 3/4\" x 81/8\".
