ART NOUVEAU BROOCH SPECTACLES GLASSES RETRACTABLE LANYARD KETCHAM MCDOUGALL 1903:

This is for a beautiful original art nouveau brooch and glasses lanyard from 1903. It is alovely little piece, with dual purpose...and its still functional today. Basically its a broochwith a coiled chain for glasses inside, thechain is sprung to both lock out and recoil, so once attached to you glasses you can pull it out to use them and it will retract back to wherever you put them after use. I have had a couple of these before, they were made all around 1900 by the American firm of Ketcham & McDougall in New York...i have never had one as pretty as this though!!. It features a very detailed image on the front of a young girl with flowing hair enveloping her whole head and shoulders. The front of the brooch has been richly gold plated and brushed to give a lovely soft look to it. It is nicely marked on the reverse with dates andthe firms information...etc. It is in absolute excellent condition with no damage to it anywhere and it measures 25mm in diameter.
