Here\'s a 4 1/2\" x 6 1/2\" folding view camera manufactured in the 1890\'s by Rochester Optical. The camera is fitted with an excellent iris aperture lens, and it features a reversible back that can be removed, remounted and oriented for either landscape or portrait photography.
As you can see in the photographs, the camera is in nice shape, and the wood has aged beautifully. Original finish throughout, and no structural damage or wood repairs anywhere, just a few marks and dings consistent with age and normal handling. The lens is in nice shape too, with clear elements and an undamaged brass barrel. The bellows look great, with no misfolds and no cracks that I can see. The lens throws a crisp image against the ground glass focusing plate, and the lensboard still slides easily up and down the rails on the front standard. The lever that locks the bed in place has been replaced with an improvised equivalent, but all of the other fittings appear to be original, including the brass clips that secure the back to the body of the camera.
