Hardin Optical telescope reflector 200mm f/4 Star Hoc optics set RARE Taiwan:
$89.88

This auction is for a late 1990s Hardin Optical Star Hoc 200mm f/4 matching mirrors optics set. These scopes were well known back when they were available for their rich star field capabilities and wide fields of view. Now long out of production, few exist. This was my personal Star Hoc for a few years. The optical tube itself was in bad condition and was parted. However, the mirrors are in fantastic condition as I always kept this scope properly stored in my climate-controlled basement. The Taiwan factory that made these also made Orion\'s classic SkyView DX reflectors from the same time period.
Please keep in mind this is a VERY FAST optics set. This is not the mirrors you use for splitting tight doubles like Izar in Bootes. It isn\'t going to show you multiple divisions in Saturn\'s rings at 400x (leave that to fluorite and FPL-53 large apochromats!). These mirrors are too fast for that; meaning the light cone is squat in length and so inherit errors such as coma will be introduced. This does not mean it is a bad mirror. On the contrary, if you install this with a 2\" focuser and use a TeleVue Paracorr, the coma will be GREATLY reduced. It just means this is a specific purpose mirror. And that purpose is to show you deep sky objects over a large area of sky.
Brighter galaxies, Messier objects, the large star fields in the Milky Way, Orion\'s Sword and Belt area; these are the objects this mirror is meant to observe, and with eyepieces in the 50mm-17mm range.
Secondary mirror will come with the original spider that will hold it, which is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. So you get the primary 200mm (7.9-inch) mirror, secondary 63mm (2.48-inch minor axis) mirror in holder, plus the original, aluminum 4-vane spider assembly.
All will be packed very professionally by myself and will get it to your door as seen.
COMBINED SHIPPING NOT OFFERED DUE TO FRAGILITY OF THE OPTICS.
