Description
This is for a scarce mahogany folding \'cigar\' box stereoscope dating to the 1860s / 1870s. An ingeniously simple design, the lens board folds up from the lid of the box and the base of the box contains an adjustable card holder with brass clips. Not only does it act as an excellent stereoscope but the box also provides storage for a number of stereoviews. One such view, an 1860s image of the Roslin Chapel (made famous by the Da Vinci Code) taken by George Washington Wilson is included with this sale. It would make an excellent addition to any collection and isbeing sold with a 99p start and no reserve. Condition
Please note that this item is approximately 140 years old and has beenused.It is in very good condition with good lenses. There would have been a small turned handle, not now present, on the card holder/slider. Please refer to the photographs and do not hesitateto emailif you haveany questionsprior to bidding.
