Pros: Portable, affordable, easy to use, high quality mountings and optics, large aperture, computer controlled. Cons: Lots of necessary accessories have to be purchased separately. Why I bought it I was inspired by seeing photos taken with telescopes like this on the internet (see, for example http://www.weasner.com/etx/men u.html).
I bought this telescope for my grandson, who is a bright grammer school student, interested in astronomy. The telescope is a modern marvel...truly a wonderful device. The ability to automatically search for specific objects in space is awesome. A great educational tool for all ages.
This is a good, very portable telescope. The first night I had it out, I saw the rings on Saturn and after that I was hooked. I have had the scope out several times since then and I have seen planets and stars and have learned a lot about the night sky.
I own the 60, 90, and the 105 and fell that for almost the same effort of set up you get by far and away the best picture and I've not heard of the hardware failing like on the bigger scope...
