About this product

Product Information

Astronomy lovers will enjoy using the Celestron NexStar 6 SE, which combines different styles with awe-inspiring features. The Celestron telescope puts the user in the driving seat, allowing them to choose from a list of sky sights in various menus, before locating the object itself. This Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope can find over 40,000 sky objects, and the database is growing. For more casual sky browsing, all the user has to do is click on a few buttons on the Celestron NexStar 6 SE to start a tour and it will automatically show off the best objects currently visible based on the user's location and time. The Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope can also show information about various popular objects on the LCD screen, including interesting facts and the date it was first found, if applicable. Once the Celestron NexStar 6 SE has been set up, it can be controlled via computer using the NexRemote software, and the flash hand control provides instant telescope updates over the internet. This Celestron telescope combines the well-known orange tube design with a fully computerised operating system that will keep any astronomer busy for hours.

    The perfect go to telescope.

This telescope is the perfect Go to telescope for the beginner and the advanced. I have bigger and more powerful telescopes but I love the portability of this telescope and use it more often. It is the perfect size and plenty of stargazing power. "Keep Looking Up"

  • Top critical review

Celestron spent lots of money on lenses, but way too little on ergonomics.

Doesn't have an auto-off, so you burn $9.00 worth of batteries each time you forget to hit the off switch. The instruction manual does not match the product. There is a legal caveat acknowledging this, but the product is too complex and too expensive to have an incorrect and confusing instruction manual. It needs to be updated. The sighting device is a cheap red-dot scope from a kids Daisy air rifle, too cheap for a $700 telescope, and it doesn't have sufficient adjustment range to get the dot aligned, so you just have to get it as close as possible and then extrapolate in your mind to where the telescope is really pointing. And there is no glare guard to the sighting device, so the smallest amount of ambient light creates a reflection of the sighting device base that prevents seeing ...

  • Beautiful and easy to use, but need to learn how to bring out its best features through experience

The Telescope is well designed and I like that it is not too heavy. My son uses it more and set it in less than 10 minutes. I have not been able to see clear images that is why I gave it 3 stars. It may be that I need more experience using it.

  • One scope to do most amateur level viewing

Great for beginning or intermediate users. Easy to break down and move about and setup. I have owned mostly Meade scopes and being the first celestron scope I was fairly impressed with the outcome. Views were sharp on distant stars and the moon looked extremely clear. Can take short exposure photos but most long time exposure photos would take more advanced and expensive equipment. I bought mine used but even new they’re a good bargain. I use an adapter for power and the cord could have been longer, but an extension allows more flexibility.

  • Great family telescope

I’ve had my eye on a NexStar 6SE for a while and I couldn’t be happier. It arrived quickly, in excellent condition, and the mirrors look amazing! It assembled quickly and without fuss. I owned a 4SE for years and enjoy the upgrade.
