This mount is stable enough for a 60-80mm refractor, and has full worm gears on both axes. However, the motors are attached with flimsy plastic parts - the worst engineering I've ever seen on a Meade product! I replaced them with metal brackets from the local hardware store. The motors are speed-regulated DC and require a hand paddle to operate. The particular mount that I purchased needed to have the worm brackets adjusted for smooth operation with minimum backlash, which is easily done. I don't know the Meade model number for this mount - it dates from the early 2000's. The tube mounting rings are probably for a 114mm reflector, but I doubt this mount is really beefy enough for that large a scope, except at low magnification.

Low power scope that's good for star clusters, double stars, etc. bright objects like the moon have green color, due to the lens coating.

This model does not have all the Bells and whistles as the newer model with Astro Track, That's why I got it. I didn't want to fight setting up for 30 min. before I could view anything. I have only used for terrestrial and lunar observations so far. Outstanding scope. Optics are Clear and Bright. AAA+++ for this little Telescope.
Trust them to go the extra mile to get you a good product.

High quality in a compact unit. If it were bigger, I probably would not take it out as often. Purchased this one, because of the price.
