Initially I was glad to see that the locking flips on the legs were made of metal, not plastic, must be rare and definitely good, as in where can one even get to see one of those. However upon trying out all of its features, there is some wobble or kink in the smoothness of motion in absolutely everything. Do I need to list things to make this clear? Okay then, the cranking of the center column is only reluctantly smooth and loves to introduce an unexpected twitch type of wobble at one particular place along its length. And the locking down of the horizontal arm retains a wobble in it. There are more such things, but I've forgotten them now, after being teed off and putting the thing away in the closet. The general annoyance with it is that everything seems mostly fine, that is, until you are in the middle of an otherwise smooth tripod-aided video motion, and you arrive at the spot where it does something to eff up your shot. It was not originally made for video? You can tell me that all day long, but here I am at the low end, forced to use what I can get.Read full review

IT HELP ME A LOT I ALWAYS USED THIS ITEM TO MY HOBBY MACRO PHOTO.............................................................................................................................
I have bought the same model of a woman in my area, I have paid $ 10, it was on Kijiji, unfortunately missing a piece to hold the head's plate holding in the horizontal / vertical ways, I have tried to fix it but I haven' t a lathe and a milling machines to make a conical screw and nut, so I have bought the mint excellent condition Velbon VS-3 Tripod from this guy who is very smart! :) I want to use this tripod to make macro photography, I have a Velbon Sherpa 250 that have only 15 years old and the crank handle for the column level was made of plastic and is broken, the one on this tripod is made of metal and will never break !
I have had this tripod since the early '70s and it has been a faithful accessory. The legs are sturdy rectangular extrusions which appear that they will never get crushed. Only the hand and finger grips are made from plastic. Everything that you would want to be made out of metal is made from quality castings and extrusions. Once everything is tightened up, nothing moves or is wobbly. There is no reason for me to replace this in 40 years, and I am sure that when I pass this on, it will endure.
