This handsome little product is pretty much what it claims to be - a well-made "beginners" telescope that would be useful and fun for an old codger like me in his little seaside bungalow on Long Island. I took out a couple of screws to turn its mount around and put the vertical control wheel on my left side. You may not need to do that. Big help for me, but no biggie. The only problem/suggestion I have is that because of low light levels and upside down view, the scope is very difficult and amazingly time-consuming to aim at planet-sized objects -- even when employing the lower power (18x - 27x) eyepiece. (It's impossible with the 6mm eyepiece.) What is needed is a small, adjustable sighting scope (say, 3x) bolted on its side to allow the user to easily and quickly capture the target object. I would pay extra for such an add-on.Read full review

This was a birthday gift for my 10y/o son. He's studying astronomy in school and he loves using it. We haven't learned how to see too much yet in the night sky. It has been good for looking at birds in the trees and foliage. Hoping we will be able to use it see the moon, planets and stars better.
