I wanted to buy a laser collimator but they seem expensive to me, so instead I bought this little guy for around $20. I was leary at first because you get what you pay for, but about 3 minutes after opening it, I put it to use. And 10 minutes later, my bird jones Celestron was perfectly collimated. It took me about 4 minutes of actual work but the rest of my time was spent searching for instructions online as this tool did not come with any. I'm a bit rusty and haven't collimated a telescope in 10 years, so I wanted to be sure. Overall, I was happy with the Astromania cheshire collimator. It feels quite stout, and solid, and was free of any defects. It seems to be of same quality as you would expect from other manufacturers and not inferior in any way. I would recommend this to anyone not wanting to pay more than you have to just because a known brand name is printed on the side.Read full review

Excellent for the price!!! We don't need no lazers! Hahahah!!!! I purchased this for my 114mm Powerseeker that I bought off Craigslist. I did have to take off the primary mirror (needed cleaning anyway) and put a black dot in the center of the mirror. After I put it back on, I followed a tutorial I got online and used this Cheshire to collimate it just a few minutes. It was easy! I tested collimation on a star that night and it was spot on. This is a great little tool for the money!

Nice build quality. Cross hairs can be removed for easier collimation of refractors. Nice, bright reflective surface. Worked very well in my Newtonians as well.
