This is the tripod to toss in your day bad when a tabletop tripod is too short to use but a full-size tripod is too long to fit. I was actually using a 1960s German-made Bilora Biloret for this purpose but the Cube is flat, letting me carry an even smaller bag. with the right trousers, I can even carry it in my back pocket! Watch the Youtube videos to see how quickly the Cube can deploy. It's best-used with the camera already attached, or attached with a quick release. You can actually walk around with the Cube attached to a compact camera, used as a grip. You won't be able to mount your camera vertically, but the Cube is probably not sturdy enough to do so, anyway My camera is an Olympus E-P5, a 15-ounce Micro Four Thirds body. The Cube works fine with my small prime lens. But I wouldn't want to use it with an f/2.8 zoom. I believe Velbon officially says that the weight limit is a bit under a pound. So I'm already stretching that with my setup. Nonetheless, I'm a happy camper.Read full review
