I purchased this scope as an easy to move alternate to my 10" fork mount. I can pick it up with one hand, all assembled, and carry it out to my site next door. The big scope requires a dolly to move it. :) For the price I feel the optics are good and you get two eyepieces to get a start in viewing if you are a beginner. Realizing I'm spoiled from my heavy fork mount stability, I still think this tripod could be more stable. The Nexstar controller is easy to use and set up alignment is even easier than my bigger GPS equipped scope. Nice for casual viewing when you don't feel like moving the big scope out or perhaps a beginner in the hobby.

This it the perfect GO TO Short tube refractor telescope for quick setup, and enjoying the night sky, or terestrial vistas. Wide field of view, so easy to align and use, light weight but substantial, well constructed Quality machine. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. The optics are super for the price it can't be beat. I never worry about dead batteries because I use a rechargeable 12vdc 7ah lead acid battery, that can be picked up on eBay anytime for less then $20.00, that will power the scope and any accesories all night and be charged and ready again the next day, and saves a fortune in buying AA batteries. This is a well made telescope, and tripod that has a computer control, with a DOVETAIL mount that will allow you mount other small scopes to the arm so it is pretty versatile, I mount my little Celestron C90mm Mak on it and my Orion 120mm short tube refractor and it handles both well. Great scope bargain, and it is a Celestron product with a super warranty, and you can't get a better Complete 4" Refractor telescope and computer controlled tripod without paying a whole lot more for it. I would recommend this little jewel to anyone of my friends.Read full review
Very nice optics for price & outstanding control system very adaptable to PC control. Use the built in control system for basic operations or very advanced function with PC software available from Celestron and other sources. Celestron has a very large and active user base where any and all questions will be answered and many suggestions for viewing improvements, techniques and additional accessories. I plan on adding the Celestron digital eyepiece so I can display images on a large screen for my wife to see as she has very low vision. I did a significant amount of research and asked questions from friends who know a bit about astronomy and what I wanted to do and they it all came back to Celestron. Some people will say that the optics are not good enough to see detail on many celestial objects. In those cases where this is true, I go to the Hubble web site and see detail I could never imagine.Read full review
Apart in the car and set-up. No big deal. Optics are good with good eyepieces. Battery life is not as bad as everyone says. Views are great. No complaints. Get one!
