I bought this Meade 70mm Refracting telescope as my first telescope for celestial and terrestrial viewing. It works good for viewing the Moon (you can easily see the moon and count the craters on its surface) and its powerful enough to see the rings of Saturn. Dont forgot about the moon, Titan (yes, it can see that too!). I'm also a birdwatcher and this telescope is fantastic for terrestrial viewing. It is easy to put together (I actually mounted the telescope backwards for the first couple days, but it still worked lol), and it comes with 3 lenses (9mm/26mm/Barlow lense for doubling the power of the eyepiece), and everything you need straight out of the box for viewing the skys! A fantastic entry level telescope for around $80 dollars.

I bought this for my granddaughter for her 9th birthday. She wanted a telescope to see the rings of Saturn. It was easy to put together and use. She loves looking at the heavens thru her new telescope. The tripod is sturdy, as is the telescope it self. Very well constructed. Comes with different lens sizes.

This is a fairly basic scope, the eyepieces are okay, the high power lens is a throw away. i might add a 32 mm to the kit before I gift it to them. The finder is so-so but functional. I build telescopes but wanted my grand-kids to have something that they can grab and use. All in all they will get use out of it and that is the whole point/
