V.Rare \"Josiah Slugg\" Manchester,19th century Microscope in stunning condition:
$332.95

This is a very remarkable Victorian Gentlemans Microscope by an extremely rare Manchester maker \" Josiah.T.Slugg\" who was Chemist and Druggist at 242 Stretford Road, Hulme, Manchester. He also made instruments and was a competitor to J.B.Dancer also of Manchester as well as obviously the big London Microscope makers of the period. This microscope is probably the finest original known example as it comes from the same collection as the chap who sold the Manchester Science museum their J.T.Slugg Microscope! the same collection that the Manchester science museum got their Slugg Telescope from as well. This was kept until now as the best example of a Slugg instrument that the now very old Manchester collector had ever seen as well as the fact that its a superb quality instrument and its in a compact box that is always nice to see as I beleive the original intention was aimed at field use as well as pleasure given that this instrument comes from an age of Victorian wonder when Microscopes where very much the item for a Gentlemans study and after dinner Brandy and cigars discussion.

I would say that conservativeley the condition is 90%+ and its the original laquer not restored wich is always very nice to see, especially now that these unusual Microscopes seem to be getting strong interest again, the only item that is poor is the accessory that is in the rite hand side of the box that looks to be something for live viewing or similar, that must have been wet or rubbed over with somethink that has made it loose its finish and it now looks dull and dirty but I have not touched it as that is not what we do! Just want any buyer to be pre warned that its as it sits and it sits well to be honest.

If you like Manchester Instruments then this is as good an example as you will ever find, any and all questions are welcome.

Box is approx 26cm x 17.5cm x 14.5cm outside dimensions and the box is original.

Sold with No-reserve.

Please look at the images as they form an important part of the description, selling these at No reserve

This is just one of many items that are going to be listing over coming days and weeks! the majority have been gathered over years and now I am having a clear out Selling policy, in brief, Please look at the pictures and ask any questions in plenty of time to allow me to answer them, I will only really sell \"No reserve\" and this is one of those times. If the sale is an open straight Auction I keep it that way, the thing is I do not like having to turn down people over the buy now deal but over the years I have watched items eagerly waiting for my chance to bid and possibly add an item to my collection or get a part I need? only to have a seller stop the auction for a cheeky bid.
So now that I have finally decided to have a clear out, and be a seller as well, I think its only rite that I practise what I preach, if you bid the most you will buy it!!!!!!!!!! I wont pull an item because its not going to probably sell for what its really worth and I wont be swayed with someones cheeky or great \"buy now\" offer Only straight down the middle. (hopefully its an approach that will catch on? could even call it e-bay.
