Aset of four superior quality Red, Green, Blue and Yellow 1.25" Filter for telescopes

The four filters are arguably the most useful planetary filters.

  • Wratten Number 15 Yellow (68% transmission)

Yellow filters help greatly in viewing Mars by bringing out the polar ice caps, enhancing blue clouds in the atmosphere, increasing contrast, and brightening desert regions. Yellow also enhances red and orange features on Jupiter and Saturn and darkens the blue festoons near Jupiter's equator.

  • Wratten 25 Red (14% transmission)

The 25A Red filter strongly blocks blue and green wavelengths, resulting in very sharply defined contrast between the blue-tinted cloud formations and the lighter-toned surface features on Jupiter. This filter is also quite useful for definition of the Martian polar ice caps and Maria. Try this one on Venus. Not only does it reduce the light glare, it really does some interesting things to the clouded Venusian atmosphere.

Like the light red, this filter enables observations of Mercury at twilight when the planet is near the horizon, and of Venus during daylight, reducing brightness of the blue sky to enhance surface features of the planets.

  • Wratten 58A green (24% transmission)

Excellent for the observation of Martian polar ice caps as well as yellow-tinted dust storms on the Martian surface. Increases contrast of the red and blue regions in Jupiters atmosphere as well as in the cloud belts. Also useful for enhancing lunar detail.

  • Wratten 80A blue (30% transmission)

A Blue filter provides detail in atmospheric clouds on Mars, increases contrast on the moon, brings out detail in belts and polar features on Saturn, enhances contrast on Jupiter's bright areas and cloud boundaries. A blue filter is also useful in helping to split the binary star Antares when at maximum separation.

All of them are good for lunar observation too.

The filter will fit all standard sized 1.25" eyepieces and accessories such as Barlow lens etc. It is mounted in a nicely anodized Al alloy housing and is threaded on both sides for stacking with other 1.25” filters if necessary
