this is a truly amazing early carved ox bone box, probably from the 1700-1800s, could be a snuff or patch box, going by the carved decoration of sea creatures and seascape it might be a sailor work piece, the carved decoration is probably the best ive seen, the box measures about 8.3cm across, 5.5cm wide, 3cm high. the mounts are tested as silver aklthough not hallmarked so im selling as white metal. surely an extremely rare piece worthy of further research. im sure you wont find a better one.
