This is for a beautiful old Japanese lacquer spectacles case from the mid 1800s. The case is papier mache i think with a black lacquer finish and hand painted lacquer scenes on it. They show Geisha girls in Japanese gardens. The inside of the case is lined in purplevelvet and the case is insuperb condition with no damage to it anywhere and hardly any wear. The imagery is nice and clear and crisp, it doesn\'t look rubbed or faded anywhere , it has survived really well, thereare a couple of tiny pinhead spots of blacklacquer missing on the back...thats all.It measures 165mm x 37mm.
