This is anincredibly rare late19th centuryKarl Rudolph Koenig\'s manometric flame apparatus revolving mirror, used for the analysis of sound.
It is set to the base with an engraved brass plaque for Repton School. It is believed that it was for speech analysis forelocution.

CONDITIONThere are 2 shallow chips to one of the mirror plates but the device is in good original working order.
The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
