This 25.5" parabolic mirror is salvage from a naval ship and is made of metal/steel. It has a short focal length given that the depth of the mirror at the center is approximately 4.25". When it was purchased years ago, the previous owner explained that the mirror was stored in a building with the sun shining in a window from outside. This caused the mirror to focus the sun's rays on a flammable piece, and subsequently started a small fire. Since then, the mirror has been in storage predominately laying face down on its top to prevent the possibility of reflecting the sun's rays.
Please review the photos closely to see the minor spots on the mirror. One spot is like a cigarette burn, (possibly was from a laser?). The spot is just in the silvered/aluminized surface of the mirror. Other minor smudges on the polished surface of the mirror are evident. None of these will cause the mirror to not form a proper image, given that the steel surface is still parabolic. No visible disfigurement of the steel bowl is evident. Military grade steel and surface. The precision of the polished mirror surface and/or the trueness of the parabola and how well the mirror forms an image are unknown. Please view images for an idea how well the mirror reflects. Note that professional telescopes have dust on their mirror's surface, but they provide an excellent image despite this.
