The Celestron Nextar 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is a reflector type with an altazimuth mount. It has a maximum magnification of more than 100x and features a mounted, motorized system with a lens cover. The telescope is made by Celestron and comes with a hard case. It is listed as used but in near-pristine condition. This Alt-Az, computer controlled Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope was my first SCT, and has been used VERY gently, and ALWAYS stored in it's factory hard case and in an environmentally controlled area. It has a built in data base of 18,000 objects and performs flawlessly with Go-To and tour capability.
Factory tripod is included. I had to replace one of the lock bolts on the tripod with a suitable bold from a hardware store years ago, but it locks down fine. I also cannot find the triangular tray that mounts between the legs for holding eyepieces, but they are readily available on the aftermarket for $15. The OTA is in perfect shape, with no scratches. The telescope has always been handled with kidd gloves, and has taken friends and family on many a tour of the night sky,...especially the moon and planets. This package is as complete, turn key as you'll find anywhere for a wonderful 5" SCT. Tracks and performs flawlessly. Collimation is perfect.
If you're lucky, you might find this same 5" Nexstar telescope, but not the full package that includes the factory, foam lined hard case with custom cutouts for all the items.
