I have an 8 inch Celestron starsense explorer dobsonian telescope, which is used-like new. The total cost of everything including the telescope, lenses, filters, solar filter, and the camera adapter; I spent $1,670.93, I am letting it go for $975.
This is an excellent deep space and planetary telescope, with a wide field of view. The telescope also comes with the mounting cradle which is a separate piece from the telescope tube, it also has the starsense planetary and celestial sensing which allows you to use your smartphone or iPhone to work with the telescope. I have the code number for the starsense system upon selling the telescope I will then go ahead and give you the unlock code so that you can use the starsense system.
The solar filter is a thousand oaks optical 8-in or 203 mm solar filter with a reflective metallic coating on the outside of the film. It does have a very tight fit over the top of the optical tube, but it does function correctly and I will show a video of the recent partial solar eclipse in which I used my smartphone to take pictures of the eclipse. In the one video, you can see a couple of the sunspots. The video is a time lapse video which shows quite a bit of detail and gives you a glimpse of the capabilities of this telescope.
All together, between the optical tube and the stand, the whole unit weighs approximately 65 to 70 lbs. The optical tube is approximately 50 inches or 4 ft and 16 inches tall. Because of this, the telescope bundled package will be a local pickup only. The only way I would ship it, would be by UPS, in which shipping would be an extra $150 to $200, but I would let you know prior to the finalization of the sale, if someone wanted it shipped.
This is a great beginner Dobsonian telescope, especially for those who want to really enjoy deep space and planetary observations and looking to get into astrophotography.
